Lutry Castle or Rôdeurs Castle is a medieval castle in the Swiss municipality of Lutry in the canton of Vaud. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. ==History== The first buildings of the castle may have been built in the 14th Century along the city wall between the gate house and the infirmary of the convent.〔(Lutry website - Le Château ) accessed 15 June 2011〕 The majority of the castle was built in the 15th and 16th Centuries as the home of the Bishop of Lausanne's representative, the Mayor de Lutry family. The large gate house into the castle was built in 1573-76 and is probably the work of Uli and Jacques Bodmer. The large coat of arms is from 1640. In 1729, the facade was whitewashed and decorated with painted decorations. The castle was given to the city in 1854 by Just Lutry Charles Antoine de Crousaz who was a descendant of the owners in 1640. Since 1942, the castle houses the municipal administration. It received an interior renovation, in 1965, during which extraordinary murals dating from the sixteenth century within the main staircase were discovered. A complete restoration of the facades and roofs was undertaken between 1985 and 1988 with which focused on keeping up authentic paints.
